Talents of Pivotal Payments: Bootcamp Training
September 1 2017 |
Jonathan Lemieux is an Account Activations Coordinator at Pivotal Payments. He’s also the owner of Lemieux Training Bootcamps.
Back in University he worked at a supplements store. That’s when he started reading a lot about nutrition and healthy eating. The owner of the store was a personal trainer and Jon got interested in efficient training programs. He completed his first personal trainer certification with McGill and YMCA and started walking the floor at the gym helping people and answering their questions. Once he acquired enough experience, he started working as a personal trainer full time. Many clients stayed with him for many years, one of his oldest clients has been training with Jon for the past 12 years.
In 2007 Jon became interested in Bootcamps. He approached a few gyms and offered to teach classes outside, but 10 years ago the bootcamps were not as popular as they are now and very few people did them. Finding that the gyms are not too keen to go with the idea of working out outside, Jon opened his own company, Lemieux Training, and started teaching his first classes in the Mont Royal Park. He’s now offering classes 6 days a week rain or shine, summer or winter.
Even if it’s pouring, people still come and they have a blast working out in the rain. The only reason the training could be cancelled is if the weather conditions are unsafe, like if there’s a severe thunderstorm.
There are 20-30 people at each class and the classes are designed for every level. Jon makes sure to talk to everyone and make sure he knows if anyone has injuries or needs assistance. Over the years his classes became a real community of great people that have known each other for years. They go out, do Spartan Race, go hiking and, of course, support each other. The classes are taught in both, English and French.
Give it a try! Get in shape and meet some really great people.
