4 Steps to Get Your Business Ready for the Holiday Season

September 14 2016 | By Helen Baginska

It’s only September, but the holiday season is going to be here before you know it. Now is the perfect time to start getting ready for the upcoming holidays.  The sooner you start thinking about how to benefit from early shoppers, the more revenue your business will generate.

Let’s get started.

1. Analyze your previous holiday season results. Take a moment to sit down and go over what you did well and what you could have done better last year.  Try to determine which campaigns worked for you and why. Figure out what failed and make sure you adjust your strategy accordingly. Analyzing data should be an important part of your strategy. It will help you make each season more successful than the previous one.

2. Launch social media campaigns. Did you know that Millennials have surpassed Baby Boomers as the largest living generation in North America? These young consumers have certain expectations when it comes to access to information and services. We are talking about tech savvy shoppers who use social media on a daily basis. It is their playground and you have to step up your social media game if you want to get their attention. Start planning your holiday content now!

3. Offer pre-holiday promotions. Plan your promotions in advance. Think of the kinds of discounts and specials you will offer. Make sure you work on holiday packaging, decorations, and store displays to get that extra revenue from the people who pass by your business.

4. Get ready for the Holiday rush. Make sure you take care of hiring any extra help that you might need for the high season. Make sure you have enough inventory, boxes, and other supplies in place. Don’t forget about a post-holiday stage when customers come in to return or exchange gifts.

Planning everything in advance is essential for your holiday season success. Make sure you are ready before the customers rush into your store.
